Gypsy Underground is a collection of Middle Eastern dance groups in the Anchorage age. I’m fortunate to know several of them. They performed at the 2010 Girdwood Forest Fair – Girdwood is a small town about 30 miles south of Anchorage, Alaska – a very small community with great skiing, hiking, and beer.

I did this shoot with Janna in Anchorage, Alaska in January 2010. This was my first time to shoot with her and once again it made me realize how lucky I am. Janna was a blast to shoot with – she is fun, creative, very photogenic with lovely eyes, smile, and legs that go on forever. She has a profile on Model Mayhem. Hopefully I’ll have a chance to shoot with her in the future!

Artist becomes poster art for helmet safety
There aren’t many items in an artist’s studio that surprise us. But roller blades were new to me. Anchorage artist Margret Hugi-Lewis uses them to glide from one project area to another, apparently. But it may not be the safest way to get around, as she noted on her Facebook page last month.
